On the heels of a very successful endeavor to bring awareness to accessibility for ALL, Stanley Park presents the Second Annual WHEEL WALK. The walk a thon was designed to accommodate everyone with or without wheels. This includes those in wheel chairs, walkers, strollers and those folks who support accessibility. Bushwhack through the brush, and hop a channel where once flowed the entire Little River, and a canal that was dug by pick and shovel. About 50 species of ferns and their relatives (club-mosses and horsetails) grow in Hampden County. Some have rather particular ecological requirements and are not found in the Sanctuary, but about a dozen species are rather common and should be rather easily found on this casual walk.
